I liked that the music went from slightly depressing to happier at the end, and i liked the message that the advert portrayed. |
The voice over was an excellent choice as he has a very nice speaking voice that people will pay attention to. |
I liked the art used in the advert although i found it a little depressing. |
I did however find the advert interesting and wanted to continue watching until the end. |
The animation is very pleasant to watch, and it is well made. |
At first, the message of the video seems negative, however towards the end it shows the army in a positive light. |
It seems to have a real recruit speaking about his own experiences, which may inspire people to join. |
At first I wasn't a fan of the advert it seemed sad and the music made me feel uneasy but as the advertisement got further along it got more meaningful. |
The illustration was very good, it created a visual story along with the spoken word. |
this advert perfectly captures the idea of being in the army and having emotions. |
It makes the idea of emotions seem perfectly acceptable and addresses any fears a prospective soldier may have. |
It also gives examples of where someone may be emotional to prepare people for some of the challenges they may face. |
The animation is beautiful, and the music has the perfect levels of simplicity and slight intensity. |
This ad should be boosted, it raises a very important issue in the simplest way, which is how it should always be. |
It cuts off quite quickly at the end, though. |
I like the point, that men should be able to express their emotions but I don't think this will hit the public because no reasons were given about why it's ok. |
I don't think this is an appropriate way of marketing the army, though. |
I like the artistic style to the advert because it is very expressive. |
Plus, it helps to keep me as a viewer engaged in the advert, because it is a bit different to most adverts. |
However, I didn't like the line "probably some things I don't tell my family" that could be taken offensively. |
I think you need to appeal to thrill seekers more though. |
I love the message behind this advertisement, and how it encourages men to access their emotions. |
I also love the visuals, and think the animation is a fantastic idea and is beautifully put together. |
Overall, I really enjoyed this advert. |
I really like the style of the imagery and the graphics of the video. |
The music is perhaps very sad and if I were to join the army and watched this video, the music would depress me quite a bit. |
The ending was good, though, leaving me with a positive feeling. |
Cool, unique video/image style, kinda made me annoyed at the beginning with the 'man up' stuff but I guess that's intentional. |
The voice over was rather monotonous, needs more emotion in it. |
Storyline and message were good. |
I think it would make people rethink about their views on the army |
This video is interesting as it contains a lot of emotional content. |
This is happening nowadays and, I think that the video will give a lot to think for people that are either in the army, or not but someone from their family is. |
I love this commercial. |
The idea is beautiful and it is incredibly implemented. |
The animation is very professional and inviting, and I love how the added vocals really makes the ad. |
It gives the real spirit of the armed forces. |
I really like the animation and the colours used as it looks really nice. |
I liked how honest it was as it didn't embellish on some aspects of army life. |
However the video made me feel quite sad maybe because of the colours used. |
I think that this commercial was extremely moving. |
I definitely think that it will impact people, and change their minds into joining the army. |
I loved the different colors that were used in this commercial also. |
Very artistic and unique. |
The audience it was targeted to was not clear. |
The message trying to be portrayed was also not understandable. |
The good thing about it is that it was short and brief. |
It definitely needs some tweaking to attract more audience. |
I liked the message that the advert gave. |
I was a bit confused what it was about at first but then it became very clear. |
It gives a positive view of the army. |
Didn't really like the animations as they were quite boring but they were clear. |
the style of the advert is pretty cool with the animations moving into one another. |
The voice of the actor is clear and pleasant to listen too, through the music is a little unnerving the message the advert is trying to display is clear |
The video and narration don't make sense together and it doesn't really spread the word about signing up to the army. |
They seem to have made it a dark message and it sounds like they feel forced in to going. |
this is a really boring advert. |
i get what they are trying to do but the animations looks like they are trying to sell teabags or medication. |
the advert is very boring but least its not as longwinded as the previous ads |
I think this advert is nice in that it puts a different perspective on previous adverts that I have seen for the army. |
The way it's animated is pretty clever as well, but at the same time the use of animation made it feel a little detached from the fact that there are real people in the army, and it possibly focussed a little too heavily on the emotional aspects of being in the army without giving any information on the job itself and what it would involve. |
This advert emotionally captures the audience through the story line. |
It is a real issue that men face, especially when joining the army. |
The cartoons used to portray the story go very well within the video and it works very well overall. |
The animation was very well put together and was very effective in conveying the message. |
The background music fit very well with the whole video. |
The video was very effective in engaging the listeners with the colourful illustrations. |
I enjoyed the storyline. |
I felt the video showed a number of qualities of the army - both the emotional side with the support it offers and also that the people there make you laugh. |
I think the colours used reflect the mood of what the voiceover was discussing - it was talking about a serious matter and the colours weren't overly distracting yet were engaging (along with the storyline). |
The music also didn't overpower the writing yet added a sense of drama and excitement. |
I LOVE THIS. |
I am a mental health advocate and I think it is so important to discuss mental health and I love that this advert is trying to show the stigmas around being emotional and that its important to talk out when you're struggling. |
Good graphics and images. |
I like that there isn't loud music or noises as it means the audience won't get distracted. |
The colours were all subliminal army colours which is very clever and I think it is beautifully represented which will stay in peoples minds. |
The animations within the commercial are different to usual, creating a great start to the advert! |
I love how it highlights the problem of men being afraid to open up and bottling away their feelings, it's a real eye opener! |
I like the more open and understanding attitude in the new adverts and, even though it's been accused of being "PC" I think it's a step in the right direction when it comes to men's mental health. |
I think the style of the advert is unique and visually very interesting to look at. |
I thought it was a good commercial that could help people who are considering joining the army be more persuaded to do so. |
It helped put people's minds at ease by telling them that a certain expectation they had of the army wasn't true and I think it's very positive and would help people feel more comfortable about joining the army. |
The animation style was simple yet beautiful, and the background music was appropriate as it felt very uplifting towards the end. |
My only complaint is that it didn't really include a lot of information about how to join. |
The video did not get to the positive information quickly enough. |
There was a lot more sad information than happy. |
The imagery was good and the music was fitting, just needs to get to the point quicker. |
Overall not a bad video. |
I like the visuals of the advert. |
The animated cut outs makes it look different and memorable. |
The message of the advert is pretty clear and made it so most people would understand. |
I think it would encourage me to join the army if I was a man. |
I think that slightly the advert could discourage woman from joining though. |
I dont think that is should be used as an recruitment video and that use of animation makes light of the situations that people in the army face. |
Show some real emotion and real people and what the army has done for them. |
There is a great chance that the things they are emotional about is caused doing the job. |
the colour is good though and the message is clear |
It was a very moving advert that was shown in a cartoon which made it more heartfelt, this showed emotions well without incorporating the harsh realities of war which could be shown in a life like advert as posed to the cartoon one shown. |
The different scenes showed the continuity of belonging in the army. |
I found the images, video that has been used was really good. |
I would recommend this to my friends if they was interested. |
The sounds that have been used where spot on. |
The video shows that if you was to join the army you wouldn't be alone. |
I think this advert really gives a good insight into what it's like to be part oft he army and how supportive the staff is. |
It is also stopping the whole stereotype of "men don't feel" because it's showing that the men in this advert actually discuss their feelings. |
It's both an emotional and inspiring advert. |
Shows that not only does the army provide you with purpose and it's very rewarding. |
It also provides you with a great deal of support and a group of people who you keep with you for life. |
At first I was unsure where the advert was heading, it did make a good point about the fact that men should be able to express their emotions. |
However I didn't think it was relevant at first until near the end of the advert. |
The animated style works perfectly |
The quality is subpar and the use of cartoons, dehumanises it and in a way, presents the army as a game. |
However, the subject matter presented is a great idea which i believe will be received well by viewers, especially concurrent with the Time Up movement where people are encouraged to voice how the really feel in an industry which is dominated by one singular view. |
The video uses a different style to most Army adverts and is thus refreshing. |
It addresses relevant issues and shows the audience that their organisation understands human beings as they really are. |
Using the voice as the dominant sound is also very clever and moving and perfectly fits the purpose of the video. |
I found the advert creative and emotionally stimulating. |
I enjoyed the animation and how it highlighted issues that sometimes, are not brought to light. |
It was persuasive and thoughtful. |
the advert featured colourful imagery which prevents the misconceptions about the army that sometimes come to light. |
for example, dark, bleak environments |
This video is beautiful with both graphics and the spoken words! |
The illustrations are truly stunning in this! |
Especially the robot part! |
Wow! |
I do have one pet peeve however. |
At the end it stopped on a bit of a short note their should be more of an impact at the end, the speeker says “or even just make you laugh” Make the speaker should be laughing! |
He should say it with emotion! |
Say it with happiness! |
Maybe chuckle “or even just make you laugh”. |
Because it sounded like he ended on a question and that is one thing that annoys me in conversations. |
All things aside this is a beautiful concept with beautiful graphics and strong powerful words that connected with me deeply and I’m not even in the army! |
Well done! |
It made me feel sympathic towards young lads who join the army thinking they will be alone. |
Young boys or men should be allowed to cry and the stigma attached to it is ridiculous. |
The use of animation kept me watching this advertisement and the music represented the mood of the video throughout. |
The use of direct address intrigued me as a viewer and made me feel sympathetic for people in the army. |
However this advertisement was aimed at a male audience and I am female. |
This advertisement shows that an army is a place where everyone can find a place to belong to and find emotional support if needed. |
It beats the stereotype of soldiers being soul-less and emotionless. |
It shows that an army is a family for soldiers in a clear way, |
Very Creative Advert, Sends a lot of messages, Can appeal to multiple age groups, Displays lots of emotion and really depicts what the army is like. |
Gives good message about army experiences and values you may gain. |
Therefore i rate this a 8 out of 10 |
It's better to use animation because if it were real documentation, it can have a very damaging effect on the mind. |
The music was appropriate t the theme, it made me feel like I want to contribute to the country and join the army. |
A powerful advert to make people want to join and support the army. |
I like the animation style used in the commercial as well as the concept of it and how it shows that men can show emotion in perhaps the toughest job in the world. |
people are there to be you family there ,are there to help you out not to judge you you can trust them no one is gonna laugh, they are you sec coned family you can get emotional it gonna be ok |
I gave very low rate, because 90% of this ad was so depressed, scary and not nice at all! |
If I had a son, after this ad I would never let him join to army! |
However, the end was a little bit better - positive way is much better way. |
I do not like these picture as well, I would change them. |
This advert was very unique in it's artistic style. |
The effective use of imagery drew me in and made me feel weighted towards the individuals thoughts and storytelling. |
The advert portrayed the army to be a nicer place than one would think, trying to correct some common myths. |
It made me feel welcome. |
I don't think we should let feelings and emotions get too involved in the army because people will start saying they don't feel like doing something but on the other hand, people need to let their emotions out but most certainly on the battlefield. |
I think because recruitment for new soldiers is low the army are trying to appeal to a broader range of people |
I think the animation for the advert is a bit overused, since the main reason for animation is to cover the hidden truth and secrets about the army, which should not be- as it could eventually develop negative ideas about the army. |
The color tones used are a a lot unrelated and all over the place. |
I really enjoyed the style that the video is created in. |
However, I feel that the colour palette used could be a little bit dark and drab for the purpose of the video, which I assume is to recruit people to the army. |
The script is very emotive and captivating so if the colours wear matched to this it would thoroughly improve the effectiveness of the video. |
Great artwork really liked the style from the start. |
The speech was quite inspiring and i can see how it would draw people towards joining the army. |
Instead of being lots of bloodshed and fighting, they give quite a compassionate feel to it. |
Cool animations and very moving words. |
The fading of the images increases the emotion in the commercial and makes it feel more realistic. |
The mans voice is very manly, I would consider a female voice too, so that it adds softness to the tone. |
Interesting ad. |
It is very different to how other British Army ads are like because they use cartoons instead of live action/real people. |
I like the concept, but it may be more easy to relate to real people who have been in the army. |
It has some interesting narration that answers common questions/concerns that men may have before joining the army, and this is a nice change from other army ads I have seen. |
But the ad itself may be too impersonal and seem too 'whoosy' or un-army like. |
I really like how this emotional advert has many effects added for drama. |
The narrator chosen for this advert sounds very professionals and adds to the serious mood. |
The deep and slow music in the background is also effective in adding to the mood. |
The length of the advert is also appropriate and near perfection |
it was pretty cool actually, it was true, and honest about us men, it kind of inspired me and reminded me of who i am. |
yeah i think this video would get recognized, its good. |
short. |
and simple, nice job! |
Concise commercial. |
Emotionally engaging but not so much that it feels like you're being taken advantage of. |
The deep voice of the voice actor was a good casting decision. |
The animations are clear and impactful. |
It feels good to realize that soldiers are humans also. |
The music was very good and simply so you don't get distracted away from the true meaning of the ad. |
The basic graphics with a voice over is also a very good way to get across what the ad is talking about. |
It was ok, the only problem is that there are many things overlapping and that does get annoying I would recommend making it more cartoony to make it look better. |
i like the colours they stand out to the eye |
The style of the video is amazing , the artwork fits right in with the style to create a unique mood and style that fits the message incredibly well. |
The video also has a good clear message. |
The music also fits in well with the video. |
It is very catchy and interesting to watch. |
It explains reasons why you should join the army while providing an Anecdote to backup what it says about joining the army and what it takes. |
Very good video to recruit people. |
Good advert, animation style is better to use than live footage as the narration mixed with an action animation grasps the audience more and intrigues, the story is good and well covered and portrayed to the audience. |
The ending is a little abrupt. |
It really does make you think deep in about joining the army. |
It shows you the good and the bad sides of being in the army. |
The music also in the background helps you ti understand the true meaning and goes well with the voice. |
The style of the advert matches the message that is being put across. |
The art style is also more inviting and friendly so it attracts the people who want to be recruited. |
The advert is also very serious, as it should be, which helps show the importance of being in the army. |
The video gave good insight into the struggles that males deal with should they try to express emotion. |
It successfully portrayed the army as a safe place in which men are able to express emotion without fear of being discriminated. |
The video had an important message and inspired confidence in the army. |
Makes it sound more interesting, this advert makes joining the army sound less stressful and has the potential to gain interest from viewers. |
The use of this advert could possible boost the army recruitment, however I think it will do better with a less monotone voiceover. |
An inspiring and overall very positive representation of the armed forces and an advert that changed my perceptions. |
Overall, I would say that it is heartwarming. |
I feel like it would have a generally positive impact on recruitment, however to improve I think that real people rather than animations would resonate more. |
Good commercial at the beginning a bit slow but as it went on it got much more better. |
It told you that the army is not just war also it told you that you could make someone laugh are meet someone new. |
At the start i thought it was going to be sexist saying "man up" but then it explained itself that men don't usually feel the ability to speak about their feelings. |
It portrays the comradary that you will experience in the army. |
It's okay it has nice imagery however it needs to be more attention seeking to entice the viewer. |
Maybe show more of what happens day to day in the army this may make a person more interested etc. |
Maybe you can more sound affects. |
The advert was slow paced as it took a long time to get to the point without explaining too much. |
It did not give enough details about the army itself. |
More detail needs to be applied to immerse the viewers |
The start the the advert wasn't very inviting so initial interest was lost due to the sad music and grey colours but it got better towards the end with the communal aspect. |
I would move to the more positive aspects quicker so as to engage the audience. |
Was a very nice short advertisement giving the key benefits of joining the army. |
But even though it was a nice ad, I still wouldn't be interested in joining the army. |
Feel like it should be more persuasive to younger generation. |
It is an emotional and well made advertisement, with it' s unique animation style and powerful message. |
which is said in a very hard hitting way. |
The lightheartedness of the animation really helps get the point across without being preachy. |
I really enjoyed the art style of this clip, however I scored quite lowly during one part of the video due to the over exaggeration of the army as is common with all of the other army recruitment ads. |
This (as a viewer) really bugs me, as I often see ads similar to this. |
The general direction of the clip promotes a positive message but I believe that the script could do with some minor adjustments to prevent offending viewers such as myself. |
The colors are nice and bright but needs more infomation. |
The actors voice is soothing it made me feel relaxed but not interested as he didnt not tell me any key infomation. |
The music was depressing not something that people will look forward to. |
The video and the idea it self-was really really good. |
It was an emotional subject, but I don't think it gives a good idea by joining the army man can talk about his feelings what he has inside. |
I think it gives the wrong idea but the video was good. |
It is an interesting commercial since so many servicemen and women leave the army saying they did not receive enough or any support. |
This commercial's message should be the case across all armed forces, especially given the difficult job they do. |
I like the art in this commercial and the music. |
The video is involving, but at the same time made feel bad. |
Or maybe sad. |
The slow pace of images makes you think about everything the man is saying and it was a bit depressing. |
It gets better in the end though. |
This advertisement had a very important message for possible recruits. |
It advised you of how you can express your emotions and talk. |
It was simple, basic knowledge and a good tone of voice. |
Interesting take on recruitment for the army. |
advert about being emotional in the army and giving up everything for a life with the army, killing people or doing mindless tasks like engineering etc. |
An ok advert i guess, not much too it though. |
but some nice art work |
I like the way the advert is constructed. |
It shows positivity within the army that there is support for army officers whenever they need it and being emotional is nothing to be ashamed about. |
It explores a taboo subject and clears the misunderstandings. |
The ad made me feel scared and it makes you feel depressed due to the type of music, the cold colours in the video and the crying soldiers. |
Also the tone of the presentor sounded sad even when he mentined something positive. |
The story line is not clear to me. |
Well, I'll admit, for an army advert, it's certainly different. |
The animation is intriguing and definitely made me want to see how it progressed, but the overall effect is that it's not really anything I haven't seen before. |
There are so many army recruit ads about. |
Advert would catch my attention but it is not something that directly relates to me so didn't hold my attention as much as something personal to me. |
I did like the way the ad flowed and its overall appearance. |
I feel this may not help the cause though. |
I like the animation but i do think it misses many of the negative aspects of being in the armed forces. |
It would be attractive to young people who are looking to be part of a community. |
The narrator's voice is good. |
The video looked great although I thought it was a bit much to say they could confide in army members more than their own family! |
Generally though a great advert that I believe would definitely generate interest in army recruitment. |
It's an interesting advert that i think will boost army recruitment as it dispels the myth of being mistreated or not cared about in the army, it's very effective. |
The graphics and narrative were spot on, it was easy to follow and take the message on board. |
While I think the message of this ad is a good one, and is attempting to break stereotypes, it still perpetuates other ones as the only characters depicted being in the army are men. |
I did however like the visuals, the pictures were innovative and sleek. |
This commercial was very powerful with the narrator yes i do think that people will have someone to make them laugh and they are able to talk to people. |
This commercial will be good for those who want to join the army. |
Through this emotional video , it shows the soldiers when thay are ready to go to be batlefield for the country , for the happy life , it is something admirable , in this video depicts their soldiers. |
In a harsh environment it is like a wall of rulus , they are trapped in the environment and they remember the minds , the animals , the family , and the things in life . |
Sacrifice for the motherland. |
Superbly well produced advert with a real feeling of empathy and passion throughout. |
Love the build up of colour and transition between imagery which works well and leaves an impression in your mind. |
Great use of music and the length of the advert is perfect. |
I did not like the sound track. |
Animation was depressing and colorless. |
The video was sad in the beginning what it was talking about war. |
The longer I saw the video better were my emotions. |
At the second part where he began to speak about help, friends and other good thing it changed everything. |
In this video i saw and hear more bad thing than good. |
I think it's a good advert, even though people then men will man up instead of expressing their emotions. |
In the army you even though you have to man up, there is still people there, which will comfort you in your hard times. |
It was quite interesting, I liked the use of graphics, the images gave it an unusual quality, mysterious yet familiar. |
The actor's voice is interesting, deep, forceful and comforting at the same time. |
The whole theme about the experience in the army made me think about what people go through whilst serving in the armed forces. |
It looks quite cinematic. |
I like the artwork and the not so detailed drawings. |
The advert does not really make much sense at the beginning but the at the end the army recruitment bit jumps out of no where and then it makes a bit of sense. |
The advert was well created with the use of basic animation, the way in which they incorporated each image into each other, really made the advert flow seamlessly. |
The colour choices in the advert were nice and calm which really connected with the visual content and the message in which they were trying to get across. |
I think the story line is one that most Men not just in the Army suffer from. |
Men can talk and cry and can find this in any walks of life including the Army. |
The voice acting was a little disappointing, I did not feel compelled by the message he told, regardless that the imagery did. |
The art style of the video is what stood out to me the most. |
It is very well made and is likely to make me remember it. |
The voiceover script is simple but effective. |
The only thing is I think it should be a litle clearer earlier on that it is about the army. |
It's nice to know that you can be emotional in the army however i dont know if i like it as a recruitment tool. |
i think it could have shown some more enjoyable times as it is quite depressing. |
Does the army want to appeal to the depressed and emotional? |
The picture is not appealing to me. |
The message was boring and plain. |
I will not join the army after watching this. |
The message is strong but it is just not attractive enough for people to watch it again and again. |
Intriguing advert. |
I like the graphics, they're different and would catch your eye. |
The narrative shows a different side of being in the army and debunks some potential myths so might encourage some people to join who otherwise wouldn't. |
It reminds me of films such a Saving Private Ryan as it taps into brotherhood and friendship. |
I really liked this advert, It shows that army people are human too and they are very strong people not only physically but also emotionally. |
They really deserve all our support. |
I really like the animation and the colors used for the graphics. |
Very well done |
It's a very nice concept, I just don't believe it to be true. |
Really good animation though, it is quite a departure in style to the average army advert. |
It didn't go on too long and it wasn't too short. |
I like the animated computer graphics used in the advert, I think the advert put out a good message and it could inspire more people to consider joining the armed forces. |
The advert made me feel unsure at the beggining. |
was a bit unhappy with the graphic at first then words got to me . |
i really loved it . |
The thought of having people who have my back around me draws me to this family. |
Using animation made me focus more on what i was hearing . |
rather than the soldiers . |
The background soundtrack was very good . |
This is a very strange one, I'm not really sure where this would actually work in media. |
Its almost like a joke, because after all the core function of an army is to kill, so emotions seem like secondary to the task at hand. |
I don't understand how anyone could thing this would work, besides baiting lonely people into signing up. |
Good video i feel, it like i want to boost army recruitment. |
. |
. |
The montage was accurate and sufficient and the voice of the man was perfect, i think it very likely that this advert will boost army recruitment i am sure. |
The storyline was heart wrenching. |
It's bad enough that young people keep their emotions in and then lured into such morbid, moribund situation could not get any worse. |
Of course being around young people in the same situation, it's inevitable that they will have each others back while fighting a rich man's war. |
This advert is brief and to the point. |
It emphasises the family concept which is important in the army. |
I like the animation, it is interesting and really compelled me to watch the whole advert. |
This is an inspirational video. |
Great artwork and detail in the cartoon video. |
Great video in letting you know how helpful they are in army. |
to let you know they there if you need to talk someone will always listen to you and will not judge you if you get emotional. |
very eye catching. |
very informative. |
music goes well with this advert. |
I enjoyed this ad. |
It made you realise that the army cares about its personnel and that you will be well looked after, even if you have emotional issues. |
I liked the narrator as he seemed to be speaking from personal experience which is more persuasive. |
Not sure what the commercial was about to start with. |
It is a very powerful commercial about the Army and gives a good in sight to the job andgood answers to the questions that people would want to ask. |
It is verygood |
I thought it was not that appealing really, and would not make me want to join up, they did not make is sounds really appealing, and I did not really believe what they were telling me, otherwise there would be no post army mental health crisis |
I think the beginning was a bit sad. |
. |
. |
but the graphics and dialogue as it progressed became more interesting. |
It told a short story of what sounded like a youngish man who was sent to join the army to become a man and wasn't sure he would fit in but happens he did and enjoyed it, so could be encourage-able for other youngsters who are in two minds or need reassurance. |
I think after youngsters watch and listen to this video it may shed a different light on what joining the army is about. |
Even though you can't actually see real people the pictures paint a thousand words, joining the army is serious and a decision not taken lightly. |
. |
but that's is just my opinion. |
I like this animated approach as it looks at the army more simplistically. |
I like it when they portray the army stays with you in your mind, when they have the mini people in the persons brain. |
I like the basic portrayal of it all, and nothing looks complicated on screen. |
A great advert for the army, appealing to people in simple human terms. |
The cartoon style is effective and message that the army is family and you can be yourself is very engaging. |
It should be a successful campaign with this theme. |
the whole advert gives off quite a depressive tone. |
I don't think that this will help recruitment into the army. |
in fact it makes it appear like being in the army is very depressive and will put people off rather than encouraging to join |
This has Fantastic graphics, it tells a story while promoting a career and encouraging people. |
Although the faces were abstract the conveyed feeling. |
The narrator had a pleasant voice that made you want to here his story
Not sure what else I can say except I think it would encourage people to enrole |
It is an interesting ad, designed to attract prospective soldiers, but is still interesting to people with no intention of joining. |
I think its cleverly done and appeals to all ages. |
I would like to watch it again. |
Makes you think of those who protect us. |
The graphics in this advertisement are rather confusing. |
The wording is airy fairy and totally at odds with the army and the jobs expected of a soldier. |
The advertisement is an advertising executive's spin on army life rather than the reality. |
It will not attract the calibre of recruits required. |
A great advertisement showing support for peoples emotions whilst they are away from family. |
I like that it demonstrates that it is a normal occurance when people join the army. |
Esoecially as they may face challenges emotionally whilst they are there. |
The advert uses good simple graphics and is very clear and straight to the point. |
An overall good advert. |
This was a moving emotional video, it would have a good impression on anyone considering joining the army. |
It was good the silhouettes were relevant, the voice over was good, and the whole general tone of the video was good. |
This was a advert that was so different from any other I had ever seen, the animation was very well done and the emotions were all covered. |
The colours were soft and this advert sold the armed services to me, it is very cleverly carried out. |
Bizzare but eye catching advert. |
Pushing that joining the army is just like being with a bunch of mates or the mates you wished you had. |
I would be interested in the background studies done that show this is a main driver for joining the army. |
Makes us a laughing stock. |
The army has a wide range of careers and options. |
You don't go into the army for a touchy-feel situation. |
This ad is embarrassing - of course it would be expected that your mental well being will be considered but this isn't a good way way to promote it |
i think that the storyline and the meaning of this ad was sad and good i like the cartoon the style and the music was promising and sad this ad was for the people who whant to got to the army. |
I think the advert may attract people to the army but not sure about the cartoon drawing aspect of the commercial. |
The ad seemed to start on a downer. |
. |
. |
music etc and in the last few seconds it brightened up, with the drawings showing people giving a helping hand . |
The graphics in the background are quite nice. |
The content of the advert seems entirely unbelievable to me though, I don't believe the army is like a family and there have been reports in the newspapers of people killing themsleves due to bullying. |
I feel that this advert is effective in addressing the emotional and psychological side of the army rather than the gung-ho adverts of the past. |
It also manages to go some way to dispelling preconceptions of life in the forces as being purely based on machismo and outward non-emotion. |
trying to soften up the army by highlighting that you dont have to hide or worry about your emotions. |
probably aimed at recruiting more gay people into the forces! |
Not really the type of men neede for Special Forces and the SAS though |
Interesting advert. |
This brings a different aspect to a stigma that has blighted the army reputation for many years. |
It certainly provokes thought but whether it will attract new recruits remains to be seen. |
I also have concerns whether an advert such as this will put the noses out of joint of their current workers, leading to internal conflict! |
Clever animation I have to say. |
Didn't understand how talking about "feelings" is going to encourage someone to join the army? |

Animation was sparse to watch and looked a bit cheap. |
Also the point generally is people get emotional allover the place. |
Last place I would think an emotional person needed to be was in a combat zone! |
! |

! |
I do not believe in the advertisement. |
The army has an appalling record of looking after those war has destroyed. |
It promotes friendship only. |
Why does it need to be a cartoon. |
It is not a funny subject. |
I do not think this assists with recruitment |
the advert was a very stylish arty advert. |
it looks very different, modern and stylish. |
it shows a new look in the army and it makes people take a second look. |
this will help when it comes to army recruits. |
very interesting and inspirational. |
This is a really innovative advert, i liked the cartoonish way it is filmed and the voice over and music are really effective and atmospheric. |
This should appeal to ,any people and would certainly help recruit people to the army. |
I really enjoyed watching the advert. |
The style and images were fine, but I did not notice any music to speak of so I can't comment on that. |
As for the actors, I guess they were okay too. |
How it made me feel, well, as soon as it was clear that it was about army recruitment I lost interest. |
This was a different type of communication from the Army but one that is very positive and easy to convey. |
Like the comment that there is always someone ther to make you laugh; friendship and companionship are so important for any job. |
Top advert |
It kept me hooked all the way through mainly because of the minimalist backdrop and the soft spoken voice. |
I liked how it was easy to relate to from the beginning and that it ended on a good note. |
It was very persuasive. |
the commercial is very good at persuading people to join the army, it gives a very clear indication that being in the army is not all about fighting, which is the common misconception of it, and im sure it will boost recruitment. |
I have heard about this commercial & my sentiments are that it is trying to appeal to minorities to join the army as the reduction in the number of white males joining. |
When you join the army there is the possibility of war & death and you have to believe in what you are fighting for. |
I am not sure this is the right tactic & even diminishes the appeal for many who would join the Army. |
I think this commercial is quite good. |
It counters everyone's stereotypical perspective of everyone in the army being macho and without emotion or weakness. |
It also presents the army, not only as a job, but as another family to go to |
The advert shows that it is ok to have emotions and express them in Joining the army. |
Emotions are not a weakness and you would be joining an environment like a family. |
It encourages openness and there is always someone to talk to. |
It could come over as a bit harsh but gives an insight into how it would be joining the army. |
The person speaking didn't sound like he had really experienced the things that he was saying, Didn't seem compelling enough to grab the attention of the modern people of today, The actor needs to sound like he is speaking from Actual experience if he is to really connect with young recruits, And explain the rewarding prospects of people who sign up. |
Nicely animated advert. |
I like the music and the unique visual style. |
I also really like the message of this advert - male repression of emotion is something rarely talked about, and it's good to see a mainstream advert tackling such a topic. |
This advert with the slogan "Find where you belong " for the British army is animated in a cartoon style and a man with a modern and everyday voice speaks about how the army allows the personnel to express their emotions in the army. |
The cartoon shows scenes of army life and the emotional care available to them. |
I personally didn't like the animated style. |
